William Shakespeare's

Richard III

June 21 – July 7, 2012

Bloody thou art, bloody will be thy end.

Ten actors take on 48 roles in William Shakespeare’s epic tale of power, ambition, and curses. Though England thinks its civil war has finally come to an end under the reign of King Edward IV, his youngest brother, Richard, feels differently. Born a cripple and raised an outcast, Richard determines to make the crown his own. As Richard’s campaign of violence spins out of control, the powerless are left to pick up the pieces. One of Shakespeare’s earliest plays, Richard III contains impressive language and the theatrical boldness of a young playwright.

Everybody in this most capable cast is proof that good actors don’t all fly to the big lights up the coast or can’t be found on any but the big stages downtown. Here they give their all in a small, bare space in the service of Shakespeare, unencumbered by a big-budget set, guided by a director with a vision as keen and a hand as sure as any in the business.

Blumer gives an energetic performance as the titular Richard, full of irony and gloating.
